Our GREAT NORTHERN story

Paul, the founder of The Great Northern Spice Co, started the company in his Cheshire kitchen after years of making his own spice blends to cook healthy, zero sugar meals for his (now wife) Lotty, who has type 1 diabetes. Paul & Lotty found that most blends available on the market were mass produced, packed with sugar, full of salt and nasty preservatives - so Paul experimented in the kitchen with natural ingredients - making healthy meals from scratch.

With that in mind, Paul started producing his own authentic blends and seasonings that contained the freshest herbs and spices, but without the added sugar, preservatives and artificial colourings. The Great Northern Spice Co was born in late 2023. Since then, Paul's blends are sold at Artisan Markets around Cheshire and the North West to budding home cooks, and are also available at the Cheshire Mercantile store in Wilmslow.

 

Our key mission is to promote healthy eating without the preaching and to prove that home cooking can be made quick and easy. Feel inspired and be proud of the restaurant quality meals you CAN plate up yourself. We have some great, easy-to-follow recipes to get you started, so that cooking romantic meals or family get-togethers will feel a lot more stress free.

 All the Great Northern Spice Co Seasonings, Rubs & Curry Blends are gluten free, Vegan friendly and of course, contain zero sugar. To replace sugar (if a little sweetness is needed), we use natural sweetener made from the leaves of the stevia plant which has minimal carbohydrates, calories, or artificial ingredients.
