Greek Gyros with Chicken & Fries

Pork Souvlaki on Skewers

In just 20 minutes, you can transport your taste buds to the Mediterranean with this easy-to-make Greek Gyros treat. The combination of tender meat, fresh vegetables, creamy sauce, and warm pita bread creates a harmonious blend of textures and flavours that is sure to satisfy your cravings. Greek Gyros is a versatile choice that never fails to impress.

PREP TIME: 5 minutes, add an extra 15 minutes if making your own fries.

COOKING TIME: 25 minutes (oven), 20 minutes (air fryer)

 

Greek Gyros with Chicken & Fries Recipe


You will need...


Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons Great Northern Spice Gyros Seasoning

  • 400g boneless & skinless chicken thighs, sliced into strips

  • 1 tablespoon rapeseed oil

  • 1 large garlic clove, finely grated (or) 1 teaspoon garlic paste

  • 1 red onion, sliced

  • 2 large tomatoes, quartered

  • Little gem lettuce, shredded

  • 2 tablespoon tzatziki (optional)

  • 2 flatbreads (we use Deli Kitchen Greek Style Flatbreads)

  • Frozen fries


Healthy option...

  • Swap your flatbread for a Greek salad of leaves, tomatoes, olives and feta


How to cook - oven option

  1. Place the chicken into a bowl and sprinkle over 1 and a half tablespoons of our Gyros Seasoning. Add the garlic and a drizzle of oil, then mix well until the chicken is covered. Leave to marinade for at least 2 hours, but ideally overnight.

  2. Preheat your oven to 180℃.

  3. In a large deep baking tray, add the following in order: frozen fries, onion, tomatoes and the remaining half a tablespoon of Gyros, then add the chicken. Splash over some Rapeseed oil and bake for 25-30 minutes, stirring halfway through.

  4. Warm up your flatbreads, then spread 1 tablespoon Tzatziki on each, and add your lettuce. Add your Gyros ingredients on to the flatbread. Roll up in greaseproof paper, tie it with twine to serve it authentically and enjoy!


How to cook - air fryer option

  1. Place the chicken into a bowl and sprinkle over 1 and a half tablespoons of our Gyros Seasoning. Add the garlic and a drizzle of oil, then mix well until the chicken is covered. Leave to marinade for at least 2 hours, but ideally overnight.

  2. Preheat your air fryer to 190℃.

  3. Add the following to your air fryer in order: frozen fries, onion, tomatoes and the remaining half tablespoon of Gyros, then add the chicken. Splash over some Rapeseed oil then air fry for 18-20 minutes, stirring halfway through.

  4. Warm up your flatbreads, then spread 1 tablespoon Tzatziki on each, and add your lettuce and tomatoes. Then finally add your Gyros ingredients on to the flatbread. Roll up in greaseproof paper, tie it with twine to serve it authentically and enjoy!
